Ice Ice Crazy! Why I love Christmas

By Hannah Wright, Venue Sales Executive

Christmas is without doubt my favourite time of the year and definitely brings out my inner child. Twinkly lights, Christmas films, mulled wine, shopping for gifts, Christmas music… the list goes on. It’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas: I already have my eye on that sparkly festive dress! The Christmas markets always give me some festive inspiration when event planning; the smell from mulled wine stalls, hot doughnut stations smothered in cranberry sauce, hot waffles dribbling in maple syrup, sizzling street food with beef burgers and meaty hot dogs! Why not have all of these and more at your next event? BLOG (7)Seasoned catering can absolutely provide interactive food stations dressed with a Christmas touch. This will give your guests the chance to mingle around and still dance to ‘The Jingle Bell Rock’ instead of being stuck at their seat.

The entertainment you may walk past when choosing food might include carol singers rocking a set list that rivals a Disney sing-along.  Yes there may be elves, Santa’s, snow angels and reindeer prancing around but why not add an Ebeneezer Scrooge to blurt out rude jokes with your guests and provide a hilariously brilliant interaction to your Christmas party? After all, not everyone loves Christmas like I do! “Ice, ice baby!” Why not hire a Vanilla Ice tribute rap duo? Christmas jazzle! A jazz band would help turn tired and boring festive radio music into live festive cheer. Live music is without doubt the most important form of Christmas party entertainment – you and your guests could enjoy floor fillers with a crowd-pleasing mix of Christmas anthems and acoustic covers from the past 50 years. This will surely result in some ‘bad dad’ dancing at the office party! Get in touch with our expert team who can point you in the right direction to our Christmas party suppliers.

Passing the arts and crafts stalls at the market filled with Christmas tree decorations, reindeer headband antlers, cut-out snowflakes, scented festive candles and make it yourself Christmas wrapping paper got me thinking creatively! Themed Christmas parties are always fun. This year we have themed nights including The Midnight Noel, Snow and Ice and The Yule Log Christmas. Why not use your creativity and have something a bit different. I have noticed this year our clients are keen for Great Gatsby, Masquerade and Circus themed events.

On Christmas Day as much as I love getting the family together, watching everyone open their gifts, children running around, ‘ELF’ and ‘Home Alone’ on the TV. I absolutely love showing my competitive side during festive party games; Headbands, charades, ‘pin the tail on the donkey’ or ‘the big fat festive quiz’ that dad has been up all night planning. Christmas office parties are all fun and games anyway with drinking and dancing but why not add some games to your event? I’m thinking casino tables, pick ‘n’ mix making carts, an end of year festive quiz or even gingerbread house making kits in the middle of the table where everyone can help out during the dinner courses. The best gingerbread house wins a prize! Having awards can be a nice way to thank your employees for their hard work throughout the year. This could include “Sales person of the year” or “Manager of the year”, but why not add some funny awards like “Office comedian of the year”, “Best looking male of the year” even “Biggest social drinker.” These are all options that will get everyone talking and create that lasting memory until next year.
